In Pitoitoi Atu, our learners work collaboratively (mahi tahi) with each other, their teachers and with the Pitoitoi learners (Year 5-6 team). Whanaungatanga (building relationships and making connections) is at the heart of what we do to ensure we have a positive environment to learn.

Our learners are developing student agency through the Bump@r learner capabilities which enables them to take charge of their own learning, and have fun doing so! When students are not workshopping with a teacher they will be working through self-guided learning contracts that support their learning in Literacy and Numeracy. Learners are encouraged to explore their passions and learn new skills through an integrated curriculum that includes literacy, numeracy, Project Based Learning (PBL) and What’s your jam?

Digital technology is an important learning tool in Pitoitoi Atu as it allows our learners to become digitally literate and helps promote an inclusive environment which is fundamental to our learning success.

Our aim is to build confident, independent learners so they may have a successful learning experience in Pitoitoi Atu and the future.
