Kapia Friday Flickouts

Our Kāpia team consists of our youngest learners at school, and is a team that grows over the year as more New Entrants join us. We work both in the large open plan prefabs, and in a few single cell classrooms. We are a large team that enjoy collaborating together to ensure a positive start to our learners’ school experience.

We follow the “I do, we do, you do” approach to teaching. This means we as teachers model, then we practice together with the learners, after which they get the opportunity to practice themselves. Much of what we do is very concrete and hands on - it is our job to ensure that our learners leave us with a solid foundation on which to build their future learning. Our context themes interweave through our Maths and Literacy teaching, and we focus on teaching knowledge, as well as skills to use this knowledge.

We ensure that learners and parents alike have a positive and inclusive first experience in the school environment. Our mission for our children is to instill a desire to become lifelong learners.
